I know that we’ve all been excited about starting our riding season and getting back out there to enjoy the ride, the scenery and camaraderie of our rides. Unfortunately, mother nature has thrown us a significant curve ball, making it necessary to evaluate the benefits vs downside of gathering to do our rides as a club. Effective immediately, the Hickory Velo Club will not be sponsoring or supporting any club rides or meetings until further notice. This is not to imply that you cannot or should not be riding. I wouldn’t suggest such a thing.
Also, effective immediately, club meetings are cancelled until further notice. I’ll follow up as things continue to develop.
In the meantime, please follow these guidelines.
If you chose to ride, please do so in small groups.
Do not shake hands.
Maintain at least 6 feet of distance from one another.
Use plenty of hand sanitizer and wash your hands frequently.
If you feel even slightly under the weather, do NOT gather with others and please get yourself tested, as soon as testing is available.
Like everyone else, I’m monitoring the situation daily. It looks like we’ll have at least 10 to 12 weeks ahead of us before we see the light at the end of the tunnel. The next two weeks will determine how long this will affect all of us. I’ll send an update when it’s appropriate for us to begin group and club activities again.
Everyone be safe and do all that you can to stay healthy.
